Carline Procedures

Each FCCS family registers for Carline and is assigned a family number. This family Carline number is displayed on the visor of the passenger side of the car for easy view. Families may decide to carpool together. In such cases, all family numbers will be displayed in the car. (This may take up the area of both the passenger and driver’s side visor). Carline is a busy time, please remain attentive and refrain from utilizing your cell phone during this time. It is imperative for the safety of our students that Carline remains orderly and free of outside interference. Students may not be dismissed as ‘walkers’ from the building. Please be certain to display carline numbers for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. It is imperative that drivers remain patient during carlines and drive at a safe, slow speed and reduce distractions while driving around our school, our students, parent volunteers, and staff.

Morning Carline Drop-Off 8:15 AM:

Morning drop-off 8:15 - 8:35AM

Morning drop-off 8:15 - 8:35AM

Parents will arrive each morning at the front of the school to follow a set of orange cones and guiding faculty marking the specific stopping locations for student drop off. Five to ten cars will stop and drop off per Carline segment. Students are to remain in their vehicles until 8:15 am, as there is no supervision available for students until that time. Additionally, parents should refrain from entering the lot at the opposite end of FCCS to park and dismiss their children. FCCS may not interfere with or utilize spaces designated for other businesses in the building. Once coordinated, upper grade students acting as Safety Patrols will open car doors and assist students out of each car. Students will enter through the Student Entrance. Morning Carline will end each day at 8:30 am.

In the event that it is necessary for you to come into the building with your child, parents must enter through the main office door. It is advisable that should you need to escort your child inside, you park in a marked parking spot in the rear of the building and walk around to the front.  Do not park in front of the school or in front of a neighboring business.

Afternoon Dismissal Carline (3:15 pm):

Afternoon pick-up 3:15 - 3:45 PM

Afternoon pick-up 3:15 - 3:45 PM

Faculty will release students at the end of each school day when the child’s car line number is called. Students attending the After School Care program report immediately at 3:15 pm when car rider dismissal begins. Parents will follow the orange cones and guiding faculty/volunteers as they pull up to the front of the school to retrieve their child/children. Five to ten cars will be directed by faculty and volunteers to stop and pick up per Carline segment. Upper grade Safety Patrols will be on hand to assist students with their belongings into the car. After 3:45 pm, remaining students will be sent to the front office for pick up. All students must be picked up before 3:45 pm. Students being picked up after 3:45 pm must have a parent/guardian come into the front office to sign the student out as a late pick-up. Students that are habitually late being picked up may be recommended to return to their home school. The office cannot provide child care for students that are regularly picked up after 3:45 pm. It is recommended that families have the required forms completed with Clubhouse Kids, our aftercare program, to use in the event that your child cannot be picked up on time.

HOV Carline Procedures (Not Currently Available)

HOV Carline

HOV Carline

Enter from Precision Way. Form a single lane starting near the yellow poles (#1 below) just beyond the recess area. The area will hold 8-10 cars at a time. DO NOT block the UTZ or OCR Area (the neighboring businesses). You may need to circle back if the line is longer than the yellow zone on the map. HOV Safety Staff will direct your students to exit/enter the vehicles. They will enter the building next to the recess area in the morning. In the afternoon, students will be waiting in the recess area (on good weather days) or in the gymnasium and will be released by HOV safety staff to come to the pick-up lane. You will need to display the HOV carline tag for drop-off and pick-up. Only pre-approved families/carpools will be allowed to use this drop-off lane. If you need to visit the office, please park in the staff parking area and walk around to the front of the building. Do not park in the Clubhouse Kids area. When leaving both morning and afternoon, you must turn left onto Helix Way. Do not turn right (towards the front of the school) as this creates additional traffic that will slow down the original carline. If you do not pick up the students by the end of the HOV car line, you will need to pick them up in the office. You are permitted to drop-off/pick-up students even if you do not have 3 students that day (due to illness, etc.) If this is a permanent change, you will need to notify the office and be removed from the HOV carline. Retain your original car line numbers for occasional use for the front car line. Please let your child know that morning if they will not be using the HOV carline that day.

Carpools

FCCS encourages carpooling, but does not formally assist with finding or matching families for carpools at this time. There is a local Facebook group that may help you - "Frederick Charter and Private Schools Carpool Connection." This Facebook group is not sponsored by or affiliated with FCCS, Inc or FCPS. Please contact a current FCCS family that uses Facebook for more information or email communications@frederickclassicalcharterschool.org.
