351) Ashley Davis (Frederick) Went to your meeting in Urbana. Think you have a solid education plan. I support your efforts whole heartedly. I read a wonderful letter to the editor in the paper yesterday on your behalf. Keep up the good work.

364) Rick Hostetter (Thurmont) I support choice in education!
365) Christine Weber (Frederick) Parents need educational choices! I have had experience with the "Classical" model. I can tell you that my children have learned so much more with this "Classical" education model, then what they did with the currently type of education offered in Frederick County. 391) Carmella Stadter (Mt. Airy) I think it would be good to be able to offer this option to parents.
392) Stacey Medve (Mount Airy) Teaching all children as if they are the same does NOT work. The obvious success in the Monocacy Valley Montessori Charter School in Frederick is proof that this is an excellent addition to FCPS.
393) Stephen Maleson (Frederick)
394) Nancy Ruhe (Monrovia) Perfect... I really wish this had been available to my children. We support this effort.

424) Dana Miller (Urbana) Frederick County needs more charter schools to give students from all areas a variety of educational methods to choose from.
Baltimore City has a bunch of charter schools to choose from. Frederick needs many more!
425) Maureen Ivusic (Point of Rocks) We are very interested in exploring the option of sending our son to Frederick Classical Charter School. Thank you for giving us school choice in Frederick County.
426) Michele Donaldson (Frederick) It is imperative that children have an alternative option for education. The traditional classroom methods are not successful for all children.
427) Mary Vargas (Emmitsburg) Children in Frederick County should have the option of a quality education, regardless of where they live. For those of us in Northern Frederick County, who watch our many tax dollars go elsewhere while are children are left with rusting, decrepit trailers, choice offers a chance to level a playing field that has long been stacked against the rural, farming communities in the county.
428) Susan Singley (Buckeystown)
429) jennifer anderson (frederick)
430) diana heaney (boonsboro) Alternative schools are a great option!
431) Jacqueline Kindle (Myersville) This is very exciting! There should definitely be more choices for public education! I wish we lived closer to Monrovia!

433) Robin Becker-Cornblatt (Frederick)
434) Jared & Natalie Keller (Frederick) We recently moved here from Colorado, where Charter Schools have much more support from the state and are extraordinarily popular with its residents. As a homeschool family, we utilized the homeschool enrichment program provided by Platte River Academy in Highlands Ranch, CO, and LOVED it. We have not found anything comparable to it here, and it is devastating. We would love to see Frederick Classical Charter School receive support from the state, as, having read its mission statement and academic standards, we would send our children there - no question. Until then, we will continue to homeschool, as the local public schools do not meet the academic standards we have, as a family, for our children.
435) Patty Polster (St. Louis, MO) Thank you for the resources you've made available, and for your determination - it's inspiring.
I'm currently finishing up a PhD in educational leadership. From what I've seen so far, I'd love to be a part of something like this - and I'd love to see my kids have the opportunity to experience it as well!

490) Connie Walker (Frederick)
491) Ashish Kaushal (Point of Rocks) It will be great to have an alternate approach to the learning than public school system. That is not rigid but keeps students’ academic and overall development in forefront; not to just keep scores at par with national average. We think charter school has this vision and we wholly support the charter school.
492) Dr. SS Herbert (Frederick) I am very interested in charter school education. I would like to receive more information about this school including proposed location, grades, and founding family opportunities. Thank you in advance for your time and beginning this initiative!
493) Colleen Street (Frederick)
494) Eileen Boley (Walkersville) I have done a lot of reading about this approach to education and I am impressed. Too often, we get into all the "new" stuff, convinced that it is better than what was being done. Sometimes that can be true but not all the time. I hope that this school will be approved and that possibly things will work out that my daughter could possibly attend.
495) Renee Diethrich (Point of Rocks) Would love to see a classical charter school in Frederick!

504) Kim and Heather Raineri (Frederick) We'd love to see more educational options for the children of Frederick County!
505) Lori Fye (Frederick)
506) Kyle Bostian (Frederick) So far I am pleased with FCPS and my family won't be applying; that being said, I should have a choice rather than none at all. I support the application. I also urge the BoE to revisit the funding formula for charter schools. In my opinion in kind services supplied by FCPS are overvalued and the per-pupil allocation should be increased accordingly. The per-pupil allocation should also reflect the fact that charter schools operate without public capital funding.
507) Michael Edwards (Frederick) I found out about this school through information sent home with my daughter from preschool (Beth Sholom). She will not be entering kindergarten until the fall of 2012 but it's never too early to work towards having a great school to send her to.
508) Elaine Rattie (Frederick) I would love my kids to be part of this!

563) Scott Geisbert (Ijamsville) I am all for having the choice!
564) Kristy Crawford (Urbana, MD) I wish I had had a choice when my children were younger. Many other states have had great success with charter schools, and I wish the best for this program.
565) ANGELA DSANE-Q (NEW MARKET) This is a great opportunity for our kids. We currently have one charter school which is not enough for this county due to the number of students on the waiting list. This tells us that the charter education is highly needed in frederick.

606) Lindsay Shipley (Brunswick)

621) Maria C.S. Nauman (Mount Airy, MD) Why do so many parents want another "choice" in education? Because the current public school option isn't working. Kudos to you for this marvelous endeavor! We are blessed to able to homeschool, but *every* child deserves a fine education. A classical approach isn't always the easiest, but it is by far and away the most edifying and rewarding! Well done!

My children are too old for this school, But I would like to see this happen for future generations.

638) Rachael Freiler (Frederick) I taught in a charter school in Texas where we had kids (16-21 years of age)who dropped out of high school and later realized their error or where the regular high school did not work for them. It was great! They had a choice were able to further their education and get a diploma before they turned 21 (after 21, the state no longer paid for their education).
Many did not know how to read or their skills were below grade level. We worked one on one with them and used computer technology as well as teacher power to enhance their learning.
Frederick Classical Charter School is a program that gives parents and students the freedom of choice to meet the needs of the child.

640) Colette Halmo (Jefferson) Sounds like a great idea

643) Tammy Bomberger (Frederick)
644) Howard Crouch (Ijamsville) Our children actually want to be challenged in their education. Unfortunately, the current non-charter school curriculum is directed to the average student and presents no challenge to high achievers. Choice and charter schools are the answer.
645) Michael Parrotte (Frederick)
646) Mary Ellen Nicke (FREDERICK, MD.) I am a Grand Mother of 2 Grandsons' who are residing with me for the time being. I support School of Choice because it gives every parent a choice and the right as to which school they want their children to attend, in order to receive the proper Education they need, as well as the Association/Social Skills, and extra curriculum with other students who are willing to learn. And Teachers who are good support with good Teaching skills, that are willing to work well with the Students and give them the kind of Education and extra help they need.

652) spear lancaster (crownsville MD. ) As a co-founder of the Cheaspeake Science Point charter school, I have had the experence of seeing what can be done with less funding and lots of suport from the parents, students and teachers along with key help from elected officials. We were rated the number one middle school in Maryland last year and we won over 40 awards. If you visit our web site, www.mycsp.org, you can see a lot more detail.
653) alison doffermyre (frederick) I'm excited that my children will have more school choices to better fit there needs.
654) Rebekah May (Emmitsburg) FCPS needs to wake up! This is the type of education we want for our children. Not what's currently going on. My child knows less at the end of third grade than I did 20 years ago. Education should not be lesser - it should only inprove! Approve this charter school!
655) Mark Adkins (Frederick)
656) Jeff Jernigan (Walkersville)

681) Frankie Rivera (Frederick, MD) I only wish we had had this type of option for our children. Having a choice in education is extremely important and should be open to all.

687) Scarlett Gibb (Frederick)
688) maureen daiutolo (frederick, MD) Bravo!! I totally support your efforts to bring classical education to children in this country.
I have always DREAMED of doing this myself, on a small scale. My degree is in education. I am currently a full time realtor, but would be very willing to consider teaching or working with you on some kind of a part time basis should you need help. Please do keep me in mind
689) Nettie Koepenick (Gaithersburg) I have 6 grandchildren attending Frederick public schools. I would like to see them get the best education they can, with out being exposed to Political correctness.
690) Edward Amatetti (Gaithersburg) How exciting! I wish you the very best of luck.
691) Shannon Skousgaard (Reston, VA) Congratulations! what a marvelous idea! children are hungry for a solid, classical education. Your labors will pay off for the children who attend your school, for your community, and for future generations.
692) Mary Thompson (Frederick) This sounds perfect for my little learner!
693) Wendy Labrie (Monrovia) I would love to receive more information.
694) Matthew Johnston (Frederick) There is always a place something outside the traditional public schools. Any time there is a competing idea, everyone gets better. Now is the time for this kind of a school.
695) Spedden& Linda Hause III (Frederick) FCCS provides a much needed opportunity for innovation and creativity in the most important years of our children's education. We're with you all the way.
696) Pam Mathews (Frederick)
697) julie remsberg (frederick) six my children have attended MVMPCS I love the idea of choice and now Homeschool one child and have one at Frederick High and 4 at the MVMPCS
698) Jennifer Jensen (Frederick) I am so pleased to hear of this program. I would be thrilled if my daughter could attend this school!

704) Tracy Becker (New Market, MD) A school such as this is long overdue in this area. Hopefully this sets a precedent for other similar options state-wide.
705) Zina Beasley (Frederick) We just moved to Frederick from Richmond, VA. I have been homeschooling for 6 years because the public schools where we lived scared us, the private schools were too far away and way too expensive (why pay for a sub-par education?) and it was clear that they did not have our children's best interests at heart. We would love to have this option for our 3 children (11, 9 and 3 years old) so that they could have the best education possible. I do hope this all works out and we get to be a part of it.
706) Suraj Navaratne (Frederick)

713) Elizabeth Root (Hagerstown)

715) William Zook (Urbana) This is sorely needed. The math cur. Is terrible. The basic foundation are lacking.
716) Michelle Zook (Urbana) Education should be centered around the child. There are many values the public school system should address and teach, which they do not. The curriculum and the teaching are all centered around the MSA'S. In math especially, the teachers need to make sure the students have their math down solid before moving onto the next concept. I think parent-teacher communication is a must and the teachers need to listen to the parents. I do support the charter school. I can't wait for it to open. I believe that those families who enroll their children in the charter school will benefit greatly from it. I can't wait to enroll my child in the charter school.
717) Joanne and Bob Tansey (Frederick) Choice is a great concept .It also makes schools more competitive
718) Kay Dallavalle (Frederick)
719) George Sisson (Middletown)
720) Robert Scovner (Frederick)
721) Lisa Ledwell (Middletown) Free market competition is the only way to improve the quality of our educational system.
722) Gregory Loss (Walkersville) In my opinion, the charter school movement has many excellent features, among which is the academic level of a private school yet within the public school system. It also gives parents a choice and stimulates competition from the other public schools .
723) mike bowersox (frederick)
724) Leslie Mansfield (Frederick) Thank you for the hard work you have done to develop such a thorough and exciting plan. The children attending will be very fortunate indeed! Finding the right school for each child is the best way to raise achievement and close any gaps that exist.
725) Peggy Alley (Frederick)
726) james schneck (frederick) I do support a choice for others' children besides the public schools! matter of fact, are u looking for a site for your school. St. John the Evangelist has a school downtown not being used and I think would help both of our causes!!
727) Kathleen Dove (Monrovia) Good option
728) Jane Garwood (Myersville)
729) Dolores Gebus (Frederick) Parents have a right to send their children to receive the kind of education that they want their children to have.

746) Rebecca White (Annapolis) If only I lived closer.
747) Elaine Reinhold (New Market) YES!
748) Lisa O'Connell (Frederick)
749) nettie koepenick (gaithersburg) Public schools have been a big disappointment for 30 years. Finally an idea that could work.
750) Hillary Banachowski (New Market) Parents should have a right to choose between a mediocre education that might meet their child's needs and an education that is child centered and nourishes their whole being. The chater school is the latter.
751) susan mechetti (millersville,md) If it gives children a better chance in there future, than the children should have that chance.
752) obianuju emy-munonye (frederick) we need this school for diversification and better quality of education to families that cant afford high tuition cost of private schools.
753) Dale Bidle (Myersville)
754) Tammy Burnette (Frederick)

763) Renaldo Rocker (Frederick)
764) Paula Nemoga (Walkersville) I think this charter school is amazing. I don't have children yet, but I would definitely want my children to attend this school and inherit a unqiue and wonderful education. These are the sorts of things the education system should be doing. This school is one step ahead and should be approved.
765) Judy Aird (Frederick) I fully support the idea of Frederick Classical Charter School as an option for our children. It indicates the growth and forward thinking of our community to embrace such a opportunity.
766) Melissa Compton (Monrovia)
767) Valerie Rohn (Monrovia)
768) Henrietta Brown (Hagerstown)
769) Helen Roth (Frederick) I would have loved to have sent my children to a school like this. It's a shame it's too late for them but hopefully it will help others reach higher academic goals.

772) L B (Frederick) My children are out of school but I believe this is a super option!

775) steven bobby (frederick)
776) Beverly Rocker (Stafford)

779) Amy Norton (Frederick)
780) Sandra Doyle (Harpers Ferry) As an educator and someone who has attended several of your information sessions, I liked what I heard and saw about the planned currculum. I think that the classical approach you plan to follow is well-rounded, well-developed, and sensible.

785) Thanugee Herath (Frederick)
786) Stacy Meyers (Adamstown, MD) I think it's wonderful to give our children other options to education. Not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to afford private school.
787) Charles Gill (Monrovia) School choice is the answer to the education crisis. Competition will inspire excellence.
788) Dolores & George Gebus (FREDERICK) It is time that tax-paid public education, tenure and pensions ended. We are now an Internet society, with so much information available online, that children can learn in numerous ways. A charter school is one great option for educational opportunity with needed parental control.
789) Jan Mitchell (Shepherdstown) Great opportunity for the children!!!
790) Kathy Brooks (Frederick)
791) Susan Anderson (Adamstown) I no longer have children of the ages covered by this proposed charter school but strongly support the option. In our personal experience, students who are taught to the MSA's and using the current paradigms for teaching math in particular do not easily compete with their college peers.

793) Peggie Suomela (Frederick)
794) chrishander lewis (frederick)
795) James chmelik (ijamsville)

816) Kimberly McClure (Middletown)
817) Adham Abouassali (Frederick)
818) Kelli Moss (Walkersville) Good luck with your application to the BOE. I sincerely hope and pray that this school gets approved and opens before it's too late for my fourth grader to overcome the ill-effects of a FCPS "education," particularly with respect to math. 837) Elisabeth Kim (New Windsor) We are offered more options when purchasing an automobile than making decisions for our childrens' education. Yes, more options will involve more time and effort on everyone but wouldn't it be worth the try if it will make a difference for our children?
838) Tracy Maldarella (frederick)
839) Bryan Miller (Brunswick)
840) Lena Ponomareva (Frederick)
841) Alex Simkin (Frederick)
842) Tara Pellet (Ijamsville)
843) Jack Smith (Frederick) This is exactly the kind of structure for my soon to be 3 year old son. He's very bright and needs a place to focus his energy, a place very academic. The choice needs to be available!

864) Cory LaRose (Middletown) As a teacher who has taught in a classical school for the past 16 years, I understand the value of a classical education for children. I have seen over and over students become captivated as they learn about the Egyptians, Greeks, or Romans. Every day, I see the effectiveness of direct instruction, demonstrations, and labs as opposed to student inquiry-based instruction. Too often, students are asked to "teach themselves" instead of a teacher doing what they are supposed to do-teach! I love the fact that this school is going to open!
865) Jennifer Weiland (Frederick)
866) delfia gibson (bronx new york)
